Show Rules
Division/Class Clarification
.. Lead Line – Riders age 6 & under as of
January 1st of current year. Riders may not cross enter
into any other class.
.. Youth 13 & Under – Riders age 13 and under
only as of January 1st of current year. Cross entryinto
Youth is allowed. Qualifying classes: 1 or 2, 4, 7, 15,
22, 33, 36.
.. Youth - Riders age 18 & under as of January
1st of current year. Qualifying classes: 1 or 2, 4, 8,
12, 16, 23, 28, 34, 37.
.. Adult - any rider 19 & over as of January 1st
of current year. Qualifying classes: 1 or 2, 5, 9, 13,
17, 24, 29, 35, 38.
.. Novice – Rider of any age who’s showing
experience is limited to less than two years in the past
10 years. Novice status for breed registry does not
constitute eligibility into Novice division at MRSC
shows. Qualifying classes: 1 or 2, 3, 6, 11, 21, 27.
.. TH: Therapeutic Horsemanship – Special ability
riders only, any age, English or Western.
.. Junior Horse – Horse must be 5 years or under.
Proof of age may be required at registration.
General Rules
1) All rules are in the MRSC bylaws and will be
strictly enforced to ensure fairness to all.
2) Negative Coggins papers required at gate.
3) No Stallions Allowed.
4) All exhibitors must sign a release of liability form.
For those under the age of 18, the form must be signed
by a parent /guardian. The parent/ guardian must be
present on the show grounds during the entire show.
5) To be eligible for year-end awards, the exhibitor
must be a MRSC member and must obtain the required
sponsorships prior to accumulating points. Points earned
before membership/ sponsorship is paid will not count
towards year end awards.
6) First through sixth place ribbons given in all
classes.
7) All halter classes will close 5 minutes prior to the
beginning of the show. All other classes will close 2
minutes prior to the beginning of the class.
8) Tack changes between classes will be given 2 minutes.
All tack changes must be declared at registration.
9) Proper attire required for each class—English or
Western. MRSC strongly recommends the use of protective
gear.
10) Two-handing in Western classes with a shank bit is
an automatic disqualification. However, two handing is
allowed with a snaffle bit or bosal on a junior horse,
ages 2 to 5 years old.
11) MRSC has the right to disqualify any exhibitor or
horse.
12) If at any time a handler or rider cannot control
their horse, they should remove themselves from the
competition or MRSC will ask them to leave the arena
and/or showing area.
13) Exhibitors and/or owner may be ejected for poor
sportsmanship.
14) No loud or disruptive coaching is allowed to a
contestant/rider competing in a class. Loud or excessive
coaching can lead to disqualification of the
contestant/rider.
15) An equine professional will not be responsible for
accidents or injuries to any exhibitor or horse.
16) Judges decision is final. Protests must be made in
writing the day of the show and must be accompanied by a
$25 fee. The fee will only be refunded if the show
committee approves the protest.
17) No smoking allowed at Therapeutic Horsemanship
except in your own vehicle.
18) No dogs or alcohol allowed on the property at
Therapeutic Horsemanship.
